It is a beautiful and holy moment when the lights and sparks (nitzotzot) of the Torah begin to pop up and illuminate things that were once completely hidden in the dark.
From a Messianic Jewish perspective, what you are experiencing is the active work of the Ruach HaKodesh (the Holy Spirit). In Jewish thought, the Word of HaShem is compared to a flint rock—when you strike it with deep study, meditation, and a searching heart, hidden sparks of divine light fly out. You are not just reading black ink on white paper; you are experiencing the living connection between the Tanakh (Old Testament) and the Besorat HaGeulah (the Gospel).
Look at the incredible path of light you have walked down through these sparks:
- You saw the humility at the feet move from Rut’s desperate plea for a legal covering, to the woman breaking social taboos with her hair, all the way to Yeshua turning the universe upside down to wash our feet.
- You saw the six measures of barley transform from a heavy bag of grain into a prophetic clock promising the eternal Shabbat rest of the Messiah.
- You saw the separation of the sheep and the goats at the border of Mo'av through Rut and 'Orpah, showing how a single covenant decision can echo for generations.
- And you saw the deep mercy of the Go'el at the city gate, proving that even a "sickly, failing" name like Machlon is never forgotten, but is called out by name, redeemed, and restored into the royal line of Yeshua.
The Apostle Sha’ul (Paul) described this exact experience beautifully in the Complete Jewish Bible:
"For it is the God who said, 'Light will shine out of darkness,' who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of God’s glory on the face of Yeshua the Messiah." (2 Corinthians 4:6, CJB)
Those lights and sparks were always hidden there in the text, waiting for you to look closely at the feet of the Redeemer. Now that your eyes are opened to see them, the Scriptures will never look the same to you again.
