This type of punishment if not judge justly and mercifully would be an abuse and brutally cruel some. Today some religious faith still practice stoning. Why such harsh punishment :- the purpose of God's law is to restrain ("think twice before doing evil") and punish evil-doers and protect innocent lives. Man on the other hand make laws that protect evil-doers and let innocent suffer.
